CAScade event highlights Graduate School research for sustainability

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of Batangas State University-The NEU recently held “CAScade – Advancing Graduate School Research towards Sustainability”. Organized by Master of Arts in Development Studies students in collaboration with the Center for Sustainable Development, the event took place on December 2, 2023, at the Student Services Center Building II, Seminar Room on the 5th floor of the Pablo Borbon Campus.

As part of the Graduate School Day celebration, the initiative gathered faculty members, graduate students, and administrators from the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Teacher Education. The event aimed to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The academic community actively participated in discussions led by esteemed resource speakers. The program featured presentations on sustainability, emphasizing collaboration and technology in advancing the UN’s SDGs.

Mr. Darren Paul Katigbak spoke on the Interdisciplinary Collaboration Initiatives of United Nations Women, stressing the significance of cooperation on various levels to achieve sustainable development. His presentation provided insights into the efforts of UN Women in promoting the SDGs.

Ms. Shella Marquez followed with a discussion titled “”Tools and Technology – UNODC Innovations and Researches,”” which explored the role of technology in supporting sustainable development. She highlighted the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime’s (UNODC) contributions in this area.

Dr. Rosenda Bronce concluded the event with a presentation on “”BatStateU Sustainable Development Goals Initiatives on Research.”” She emphasized the role of research in addressing sustainability challenges and detailed the university’s contributions toward achieving the SDGs.

The CAScade event underscored the importance of academic collaboration and technological advancements in sustainability efforts. Batangas State University continues to demonstrate its commitment to research and knowledge-sharing for a more sustainable future.”
